Back in the old days, it was noted that transsexuals often have a brother who is gay.
That would certainly make a genetic component likely.
It is my belief that there are a great many origins for transsexuality, many of them biological. And at least some of them, probably particularly those that can be traced back to early childhood or have some sort of phenotypical marker such as the complete absence of chest hair where siblings are endowed in this, suggest a biological process not yet understood.
